I made a size 6 with no alterations and I am very happy with the fit.
The fabric is vintage. It's an upholstery-weight cotton, which—according to the selvedge—is "Color styled with Dupont Savalux Fast Colors, Scotchguard Finish, Preshrunk, Copyright Pattern Rights Inc. MCMLXII" (1962). My grandmother gave it to me and I have no idea where she came about it, but I like it a lot.
This pattern is not the quickest thing to sew, with front and back pockets, a real zipper fly, and a hand-finished waistband, but it was very satisfying.
My mother's day gift this year was TIME. Between my work, three kids, and my sick mother, I really just needed some hours to sew without interruptions. So A.J. went with the kids to his mother's house for most of the day and I listened to Beyoncé and sewed for myself. I didn't finish them that day but got probably two-thirds of the way done. It was a good day.
I'm definitely making a solid-color pair of these as soon as I can.
Thanks for reading!
That does sound like a good day!! I am in LOVE with this fabric, the pink flowers with the red are perfect.
